Define differences
Rolling bearings refer to bearings whose rolling elements undergo rolling motion on the raceway; Sliding bearings refer to bearings that operate under the action of sliding friction.
Difference in Bearing Categories
Rolling bearings can be classified according to two major criteria: structural type and size. In terms of structural types, they can be divided into ball bearings and roller bearings based on the different rolling elements, self-aligning bearings and non self-aligning bearings based on whether they have self-aligning function, and separable bearings and non separable bearings based on whether the parts are separable; In terms of size, it can be divided into micro bearings, small bearings, medium and small bearings, large bearings, etc.
There are also various classification methods for sliding bearings. Firstly, they can be classified into semi-solid lubricated bearings and liquid oil lubricated bearings according to the lubricant state. Secondly, they can be classified into thrust sliding bearings and radial sliding bearings according to the direction of load they bear.
Differences in functional characteristics of bearings
The characteristics of rolling bearings include: low friction coefficient, small friction torque during starting; Installation and disassembly are relatively simple and easy to lubricate; For shaft necks of the same size, a smaller width can make the axial dimensions of mechanical equipment more compact.
The characteristics of sliding bearings include: longer service life compared to rolling bearings; Strong anti vibration performance and bearing capacity; Simple structure; But its disadvantages are high friction, high bearing wear, and poor accuracy maintenance.
Differences in usage scenarios
Generally speaking, rolling bearings with low friction and low heat generation are more suitable for high-speed rotating applications.
For sliding bearings, due to their ability to withstand large loads, they are suitable for situations with high loads, compact structural requirements, and smaller radial dimensions.
Rolling bearings and sliding bearings each have their own advantages, and the specific selection should be considered based on factors such as working conditions.
